Ifau, Institutet för arbetsmarknads- och utbildningspolitisk utvärdering, har studerat hur ekonomiska kriser påverkar ungdomars utbildnings- och karriärval och hur dessa beslut påverkar deras långsiktiga arbetsmarknadsutfall.

Ungdomar vars pappor blev arbetslösa inom industri och bygg under 1990-talskrisen valde oftare bort gymnasieprogram kopplade till dessa branscher. Som vuxna hade de högre sysselsättning och inkomster. Pappornas arbetslöshet verkar ha fungerat som en signal om risker i vissa branscher, visar en ny rapport från IFAU.

Utbildningsnivå och var man bor – stad eller landsbygd – spelar i dag en större roll för ungas benägenhet att stödja radikala högerpartier än tidigare. Det visar en avhandling vid Stockholms universitet.
