Under de senaste åren har ordet hemmasittare blivit centralt i debatten om frånvaro i skolan, och ofta landar förklaringen i att det handlar om psykisk ohälsa. En ny studie har utforskat synen på skolfrånvaro mellan 1945 och 1975 – med hopp om att vi kanske kan lära oss något av historien.

När en skola hanterar problematisk skolfrånvaro med särskild expertis för elevens hälsa, och reducerar läraren till en expert på ämnesundervisning, förloras möjligheten att ta tillvara samspelet mellan lärande och hälsa, enligt en studie på en högstadieskola.

Forskare vid Linköpings universitet arbetar tillsammans med flera kommuner i länet för att hitta metoder för att minska elevers frånvaro från skolan. John, som P4 Östergötland kallar honom, hade tidigare svårt att gå till skolan och kämpade under flera år.

Transitioning from primary to secondary school is a big change for students. As schools begin to turn their minds towards student transition activities for the 2026 school year, new international research shines a light on the impact of student absenteeism during these transition years.
