This article addresses important aspects of the largely unexplored interplay between high educational aspirations and low academic achievement in migratory contexts. Using data from the German National Educational Panel Study (NEPS), I examine the determinants of learning investments of students who changed from vocational to academic tracking at the transition to upper secondary education.

Generating data from small group interviews with 41 boys aged 10–11 years from two London schools in 2022, this paper contributes to the field of gender by introducing a new form of non-hegemonic and positive masculinity, which I am calling ‘blended’ masculinity, and which was the most common formation in each school.

Syftet med artikeln är att beskriva och exemplifiera matematiska aspekter som mellanstadieelever behöver urskilja för att utforska bassystemets struktur. Datamaterialet är hämtat från en learning study i årskurs 4 med 44 elever, där en iterativt utvecklad lektion har utformats inspirerad av learning activity och El’konin-Davydov-programmet (ED-programmet).
