Preschool-age children are capable of learning complex math lessons, but such lessons are rare at home, largely because parents underestimate children’s math abilities, according to a study by researchers at Vanderbilt University. Researchers suggest that rather than focusing on teaching numbers, young children also could learn to complete mazes and games focused on patterns.
