More than two-thirds of secondary school head teachers and deputies in England are considering taking early retirement with most blaming an excessive workload, a survey suggests.
A decline in students entering secondary school has led The Professional Teachers Union in Hong Kong to seek smaller Form One class sizes. The union has said a strike is possible if the classes are not reduced. The Education Bureau has pledged to maintain its policy of sustaining schools and teachers.
A recent report finds schools in England often do not work together to ensure students can continue learning the same foreign language when they move from primary to secondary school. The British Council and CfBT Education Trust report 27 procent of secondary schools guarantee primary students can continue their language instruction.
