Commentary: Math stereotypes are untrue, racist
Stereotypes that people of Asian descent are "good at math" are false as well as racist, writes Niral Shah, an assistant professor and researcher at the University of Washington. Such beliefs create pressure for Asian students to perform well and can make non-Asian peers feel "mathematically inferior," Shah writes.
